[you will find there two boards... you need to focus on the smaller one]

2: find the 93c66 chip [it's a tiny chip on the board as shown in this picture: the chip you are looking for is the one that has that green wire on it... yours won't have the wire on it...]

3: focus on pins 1 & 4 [looking at the picture will help you identify them... in the picture... it's the two pins that are connected with the green wire]

4: as soldering might be difficult [it was for me :P] you can find a paper clip, open it up... and connect the two ends to the two pins [imagine that the green wire is actually your paper clip] IMPORTANT: don't touch the paper clip with your fingers, use some nippers [gosh :)) i don't know the word in english for this :P ... it's "cleste" or "patent" in romanian]

5: as you have the paper clip connected, turn the printer on... wait for 15 seconds...

[if you will pay attention to the control light on the front of the printer... you will notice that it will be red for a while, and then green... don't exactly know the order :P]

6: turn the printer off... disconnect the paper clip...

7: put the cover back...

further actions: when your printer will stop printing after other 2100 pages... just repeat steps 1 to 7 [7 being the most important, obviously :P]

All my ink is bone dry and I need to use the scanner but it won't let me due to the error message that says refill ink cartridges.
I found this to work.

1) Disconnect the printer's power outlet
2) Press and hold the power button while connecting the power outlet back.
3) While still holding down the power button, press the reset button twice.(red circle with a triangle)
4) Release the power button
The printer takes about 10 seconds to show the number 1 (factory mode) and then will go into "idle"
5) Press the RIGHT-ARROW or LEFT-ARROW repeatedly until you see a setting that says "USER MODE POWER OFF," now press OK
7) YOU CAN NOW USE YOUR SCANNER

this is the sequence that worked, and do not worry about the pad, it is a sponge that you can take it out gently yourself, wash it and put it back, no soap or squiz it. do not need to open the printer to do it, can take it out from where you replace the ink tanks.

1)Printer on, press Additional Functions, Scan, Copy, Scan
Now you should be in service mode from there for waste ink tank reset it is simalar to what has already been posted

2)Select Test mode which is like the last avalabe selection
3)Select #8 Printer Test, it will do something here like cleaning or something then it will come up with some other option this is where it gets a bit confusing cause now all it says is like 8-2 or 8-3 push the + or - button until it says 8-3 then hit the select button

The menu will now say EEPRON Clear
Select Ink count which is option (0) and press set

Then press Stop/Reset Followed by the power button and then wait for it to restart.

If you can do a mid-print test it may help you decide what is going on with the printer. It is easy to do:

Press the green button and wait to hear the printer pick up the paper. Wait approximately three seconds and open the toner door, this will stop the printer in "mid-print". The test print should be laying in the printer directly under the toner cartridge.

Look at the print on the paper: Is it faded? (Yes)
Look at the print on the image drum of the toner cartridge: Is it dark? (Yes)

You problem has to do with the transfer roller. Replace/clean it.

This is what I think you are going to find, however, it the results are different, let us know and we will go from there....to many varibles to go into here.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REFILL BROTHER INKJET

1. Cover the outlet hole with a small piece of tape. If this is not done the ink may run out of the outlet hole when the hole is drilled in the top of the cartridge.
2. Peel back label as shown in photo.
3. Using the thumb drill provided, drill into the recessed area under the label until drill fully penetrates cartridge.
4. Fill syringe with 10 ml. of black ink. 5-8 cc of color ink for the color cartridge.
5. Very slowly inject the ink into the sponge until the cartridge is full.
6. Seal the hole made in the top label with tape. Note: If the holes are not sealed properly the cartridge will leak.
7. Unused ink may be returned to the bottle. Clean the syringe with water and dry for future use, or use with a different colour ink.
8. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
For best results, leave cartridge in printer for 8 hours after refilling so the ink can saturate the entire sponge. (Allows ink to flow to the print head).
NOTE: If cartridge is refilled before it is completely empty this time is greatly reduced.

1.Remove cartridge and put a piece of tape over the outlet port to prevent ink drips during the filling process.
2. Pry off the black or color lid (cover) from the top of the cartridge by using a small flat blade screwdriver.
3. Remove the larger silver seal using a pocket knife or finger nail.
4. Enlarge the Filling hole in the top of the cartridge(s) using the thumb drill provided.
5. Hold the cartridge so that the Vent hole (at the front of the cartridge) is slightly higher than the Filling hole.
6. Insert the syringe through the Filling hole, and push all the way into the cartridge. The cartridge contains a sponge and a slight resistance may be felt.
7. Very S-l-o-w-l-y inject up to 7 ml. of ink until the reservoir under the Vent hole fills from the bottom to the top.
8.Reseal both holes (Filling and Vent) with tape.
9. Replace the cover by snapping the cover back onto the cartridge.
10. Remove the tape from the outlet port when ready to reuse the cartridge.
11. Unused ink may be returned to the bottle. Rinse the syringe with warm water and dry for future use.
12. Replace the cartridge(s) and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
Note on LC04 Black Only:
You can get more copies if you cover the side of the cartridge that sits against the printer with a piece of black electrical tape. This has two benefits. You'll get more copies per refill and it is easier to refill because you don't have to get the reservoir under the vent hole full. The one drawback is that you have very little warning of low ink. It will print lite for a couple of pages and then nothing.

There are two methods you can use to refill this cartridge.
Use the one that suits you the best.
Method One
1) Put the needle onto the syringe and suck up 25ml of black or 20ml of color ink.
2) Remove the needle from the syringe.
3) Put the cartridge on a flat, ink proof surface, with the bottom facing up.
4) Push the tip of the syringe into the "ink exit hole" and tilt the syringe to the side. Remember, you should not have the needle on the syringe.

Note: Do not bump or press the "pressure release button".
5) Pull back on the syringe plunger until 3-4 ml of air from the cartridge bubbles up through the ink. A slight vacuum will form in the cartridge. Then push on the syringe plunger slightly to inject 3-4 ml of ink.
6) Repeat this step 5-8 times to pump the air out of the cartridge and replace it with ink

7) When the process is complete, the syringe will be filled with air. Pull back on the syringe plunger one more time to pull a few extra ml of air out of the cartridge and then pull the syringe out of the "ink exit hole".
8.Replace the cartridge(s) and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.

Method Two
1. Put the cartridge on a newspaper or some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
2. Turn the cartridge on its side and drill a hole 1/4 inch down from the black cap into the clear part of the plastic (see Photo)
3. Fill the syringe with 20 ml. of ink.

4. Insert the syringe through the drilled hole, If the needle hits the inner part of the cap then aim the needle in a downward position as seen in the photo.
5. Slowly inject ink until you see the ink come up to just below the drilled hole.

6. Cut a small square of aluminum tape and reseal the drilled hole.
7. Unused ink may be returned to the bottle. Rinse the syringe with warm water and dry for future use.
9.Replace the cartridge(s) and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.

BROTHER LC51

1) Cut label at joint between top and bottom halves of the cartridge case.
2) Flip open the cartridge casing (shell).
3) Put the sharp filling needle onto the syringe and fill the syringe with ink.
4) Pierce the top part of the cartridge with the needle and S-l-o-w-l-y inject 15cc of ink into the cartridge bag.
5) Put a piece of aluminum tape over the filling hole.
9) Place the casing (shell) back together and use a piece of tape to hold the two sides of the casing (shell) together.
